March - Aquamarine

This member of the beryl family has a name that literally means "water of the sea." This title refers to its wonderful ocean-blue color and to its often flawless clarity unusual in gemstones. In years past, it was seen as a sacred stone to Neptune, the Roman god of the sea; later, it was considered the treasure of mermaids as they protected sailors and fishermen. As a result, it came to symbolize safety, security and a strong love for the sea.
