Birthstones have a rich and interesting tradition dating back, it is thought, to the Biblical account of Aaron’s breastplate in Exodus 28; in fact, a complete list of the ancient birthstones is found in the Book of Revelations. Through the centuries, the list’s gems have changed often, depending both on the era and the country until 1910, when the Jewelers of America officially adopted this list, the most widely used today. Click on any month to learn more about that particular gemstone and to view an example of its beauty in one of our own custom jewelry designs.
